Summary:      This position is responsible for the planning, organizing and directing of the overall operation of the Resident Care (Nursing) Department at their respective community.  In accordance with Village at LifeQuest policy and procedures and current state and local regulations.  Assure that the care needs of all residents are met and maintained according to company standards, physician orders, and current state and local regulations.  Responsible for the overall development and implementation of each resident’s assessment and support plan.

Education:                

Experience:                Four (4) or more years’ experience in the long-term care industry required

Three (3) or more years in a management position

Must have working understanding of PA 2800 regulations

Is regularly required to sit, talk and listen

Is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.

Is occasionally required to lift and/or move residents who need assistance

Must demonstrate specific visual abilities that include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

License/Registration/Certification: Must have a minimum of a RN in good standing

Other:                         Must be 21 years of age

                                    Must have excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills

ORGANIZATION SUPPORT RESPONSIBILITIES:

WORK ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):

Ensures that the Resident Care Department Operates in accordance with all Village at LifeQuest  Senior Living  Senior Living Policy and with state and local regulations

Assures Nurses, Resident Care Coordinator, Medication Assistants and Resident Assistants are observing resident rights

Assures Nurses, Resident Care Coordinator, Medication Assistants and Resident Assistants are knowledgeable of current company and state policies pertinent to their jobs

Conducts assessment of new residents for admission including ensuring that all admission paperwork meets company and state requirements prior to admission

Assist with resident admission, transfer, and discharge as needed

Oversee the ordering, controlling, and distribution of medications

Develop and implement each resident’s assessment and support plan, updating whenever necessary

Coordinate care with other disciplines ensuring other departments are aware of new physician orders

Review and answer resident, family and employee concerns in a timely manner

Recruit, Orient, and train new team members

Ensure staffing meets the needs of the residents

Assist with marketing by providing tours, discussing admission process, and attending open houses as needed.

Conduct and attend required in-services and trainings

Assure resident safety

Participate in On-call Rotation

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly Supervises the Nurses, Medication Assistants and Resident Care Coordinators who supervise the Resident Assistants

Ensure that all employee evaluations are completed in a timely manner

Ensures ASP is followed

Language Skills:

Ability to read and write fluent English

Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from residents, families, employees

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to use problem solving skills to assess variables in standard situations

Ability to use critical thinking and common sense in understanding standard situations

Ability to interpret and communicate a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
